Willamette ESD Information Services

Video Conferencing is the technology of sending two-way video and audio over IP. This technology is being used to connect students to resources such as museums around the nation, government agencies like NASA, and other school districts for classes. It is also being used for administrators to connect with other administrators for meetings, reducing travel expenses and travel time.

After the ending of Senate Bill SB622, the ESD’s in Oregon became regional hubs providing a distributed network model where data, video, and voice could be integrated over current internet connections to make IP Video Conferencing more cost-effective. Willamette ESD has become a Regional Hub providing HUBing and gatekeeper services to our school districts and partnering with the State to provide video connectivity to other districts and agencies.

Nearly every school district Willamette ESD provides services to is running their video conferencing unit. In the Willamette Education Service District, every high school has a Vtel Galaxy unit, Sony unit, or Polycom. See above for connected sites and scheduling at the school district level.
