Oregon Migrant Education Service Center
Role of Advisory Committee The role of the Oregon Migrant Education State Parent Advisory Committee (State PAC) is to advise Oregon Department of Education (ODE) staff members on matters of concern in planning, developing, administering, and evaluating Oregon's migrant education programs; and to make recommendations to the State Board of Education with respect to content of the state plan, project proposal funding, and other matters of concern to the committee. The members of the Oregon Migrant Education State Parent Advisory Committee are selected from the various areas of the state in which there are concentrations of eligible migrant students. In order to assure that more than a majority of the membership is representative of those who benefit from Title I-C, NCLB projects, the responsibility of recommending members for appointment is delegated to the district or area parent advisory committee from which the member is selected. Mission Statement It is the mission of the Oregon Migrant Education State Parent Advisory Committee to lead, serve, and motivate educational agencies in Oregon to promote high-quality, efficient educational programs, and to empower and advocate for migrant parents, so migrant students develop, to the highest degree possible, the language, academic, and social skills necessary to participate fully in all aspects of American life.
