Oregon School Improvement Facilitators Introducing Oregon’s School Improvement Facilitators ProgramTo provide technical assistance and support to districts, schools and their leaders by helping build capacity for improved academic success for all students. No Child Left Behind (NCLB) requires that states provide systems of support for those schools and districts designated in need of improvement because they have not met Annual Yearly Progress (AYP) targets for two consecutive years. To support its schools and districts, Oregon Department of Education (ODE) in partnership with the Oregon Association of Education Service Districts (OAESD) provides the Oregon School Improvement Facilitators Program to help build the capacity for planning, implementing, and sustaining continuous improvement – regardless of a school’s NCLB designation. Services of School Improvement Facilitators are available through the regional Education Service Districts to guide schools through a continuous and sustainable improvement process by providing customized training, tools, and other resources that directly address individual school needs. School Improvement Facilitators are skilled in group processes and help schools obtain increased academic achievement for all students. School Improvement Facilitators assist with these processes:
School Improvement Facilitators can offer assistance with data collection and analysis, identifying research-based practices, goal setting and action planning, implementation and progress monitoring, resource management, and decisions regarding professional development. |
