The Safe Schools and Healthy Students Program, in partnership with the Marion County Health Department, Polk County Mental Health, and the Salem-Keizer School District, has developed a screener’s guide for school administrators and counselors regarding potentially suicidal youth in Marion and Polk County School Districts. This brief guide describes and outlines an agreed-upon collaborative process between school districts and public health agencies in Marion and Polk Counties. This guide also contains training information for school staff as well as the forms needed to document an intervention process.
Contact the Safe Schools and Healthy Students Program Coordinator to request training or consultation assistance.
Yamhill County School Districts should, as need arises, contact the Yamhill Family and Youth Program in McMinnville, Oregon at 503.434.7462 regarding how best to respond to potentially suicidal youth in Yamhill County.
