Youth Corrections Education Program

The Oregon Department of Education (ODE) and Oregon Youth Authority (OYA) contract with Willamette Education Service District to provide education programs for students who reside at MacLaren Youth Correctional Facility. This education program operates on a year-round calendar and provides instruction for a total of 220 days annually.
This program is accredited by Northwest Accreditation Commission (NWAC) and serves approximately two hundred male students. Classes are taught by licensed teachers, and the curriculum meets all state requirements.
The education program provided serves young men from the ages of twelve to twenty-five. Students are served through a combination of direct instruction, online courses, and educational software. We assess students’ skills and place them in appropriate classes. We then provide substantial encouragement and support, as they work to earn their high school diploma. Graduates are equally prepared for college or entering a vocational trade.
In addition to our comprehensive high school program other options are:
- Barbering school
- College coursework
- Welding certification
- Construction technology
- Bicycle repair
- Work experience
- Graduation Equivalence (GED)
Our goals for all students at William Lord High School:
- Reduce recidivism
- Earn a high school diploma
- Develop marketable job skills
- Engage in college coursework or vocational training
