Grow Your Own

ARE YOU READY TO BEGIN YOUR JOURNEY OF BECOMING AN OREGON EDUCATOR?

Do you have a passion for learning and inspiring others?
Do you want to impact the future of your community?
Do you feel the call to become a teacher?
Do you want to shape the future of education in Oregon?

If you answered yes to any of the above, then our Grow Your Own program is for you!

The WESD Grow Your Own (GYO) program is dedicated to building accessible pathways for high school students, instructional assistants, students enrolled in teacher education programs, and those looking to change careers, to become licensed Oregon educators. An essential goal of our program is to uplift BIPOC and linguistically diverse teacher candidates by providing support through funding, academic resources, mentorship, and assistance in navigating the teacher licensing process.

The WESD GYO can support you in:

  • Identifying and overcoming potential barriers.

  • Getting in touch with teacher education programs.

  • Connecting you to the 21 school districts within the WESD region.

  • Finding financial resources to fund your journey.

If you're ready to embark on your teaching journey and impact the lives and futures of Oregon's students, schedule a meeting with our Teacher Pathway Navigator.
