Last Dollar In
Are you in your final term of student teaching and need funding support?
The WESD Grow Your Own (GYO) program is looking for aspiring educators who are nearing the completion of their teacher education experience and need that last dollar of support during their final term of a student teaching experience.
This pilot project, entitled Last Dollar In, will provide up to $5,000 to selected student teacher candidates enrolled in a teacher preparation program and who are completing their last term of student teaching in a WESD district (list of qualifying school districts). Preference will be given to candidates getting licensed in an area of need defined by school districts in the WESD region.
Eligibility Criteria (Full Criteria)
The WESD GYO Last Dollar In selection committee will prioritize funding for applicants who:
- Are enrolled in a teacher preparation program
- Are in the final term of student teaching.
- Are student teaching in a WESD school district between January 1, 2025 (for private programs on a semester calendar) or March 31, 2025 (for public programs on a quarter calendar) and June 30, 2025.
- Have received or sought out support from the WESD GYO program.
- Are willing to commit to participating in an interview focused on their teacher education experience.
- Are willing to apply for a teacher position with a WESD school district for the school year.
- Are seeking to obtain licensure in an area of high need for one of the WESD school districts.
Recipient Responsibilities:
- Meet periodically with the WESD GYO Teacher Pathway Navigator.
- Participate in an impact interview to share their experiences and insights.
- Share their experience at WESD GYO promotional events and materials.
