Addressing Disruptive and Defiant Behaviors
February 11 & 13 from 4:15 pm to 5:45 pm
Session 1: This session will focus on the Crisis Cycle, exploring behavior as a form of communication. It will cover how educators can intervene to prevent the escalation of the crisis cycle, helping to maintain a stable classroom environment.
Session 2: The second session aims to equip educators with practical tools and strategies to handle escalation in the classroom. It will also
provide specific techniques for managing defiant or disruptive students, emphasizing a curious rather than furious approach, as highlighted by
Cindy Jones.

Artful Design and Facilitation

Participants will learn to create engaging and supportive learning environments, drawing from The PD Book: 7 Habits that Transform Professional Development by Elena Aguilar and Lori Cohen. Key areas include:
- Designing purposeful sessions with clear outcomes.
- Intentional facilitation and assessing learning impact.
- Responding to and engaging with emotions.
- Navigating power dynamics.
- Meeting the needs of adult learners.
- Refining communication skills.
- Evaluating professional learning impact.

Coaching for Equity
Jan 7, 9, 14, 16, 21, 23 from 4pm-6pm
This workshop builds on Elena Aguilar’s book, Coaching for Equity, providing tools and resources for effective conversations that lead to behavior and belief changes. Participants will practice six types of equity-focused coaching conversations, explore the impact of their own identities on systemic oppression, and develop a vision for equity in their work.
