Adam Whalen is recognized for his outstanding work supporting students as they strive to earn college credit in high school. Adam and the Willamette Promise team were identified by Salem-Keizer School District as Community Partner of the Month for August of 2019 for their work in supporting students at North Salem High School receive college credit for their classwork. When a teacher’s medical leave threatened to leave 117 students without college credit, Adam stepped in to schedule and administer assessments to ensure the student’s credits were earned. The process took nine days but, with help from Katie Anderson and Fatima Chacon-Martinez of the Willamette Promise team, the assessments were administered, scored and inputted. Adam’s willingness to step in provided local students with a much needed assist.
