Valerie Baldwin was recognized for her outstanding work as an instructional assistant in the DHH program. Valerie masterminded an incredible Literacy Night for students with hearing loss. She worked with other staff to identify a book to use for the theme, and then proceeded to create an evening of fun and literacy activities for children and their families. Her enthusiasm was contagious. She identified other staff to help, and assigned them tasks. Valerie’s hard work and extra hours were evident in the organization and creativity of the tasks. The event was designed to create an enjoyable evening for children and their families to participate in together. Valerie is the most creative, energetic and positive person ever! She had activities all set up for the children to create that all related back to the book. Literacy and language in action—fun was had by all!
