Rachel Hansberry is recognized for her outstanding work, integrity and the genuine care she shows for the children. Cases assigned to Rachel show enormous gains in classroom behaviors and educational access. These gains are evident from observation and review of classroom data. The nominating colleague pointed out that her work impacted so many people – the children and their classroom peers, and also the families of children in the classroom. There is also a tremendous benefit to her Willamette ESD colleagues. Teachers, Instructional Assistants and Specialists all have noticed a positive impact, and Rachel’s work has improved the classroom tenor allowing time and ability for staff to focus and apply their expertise to further education. Her work is valued and appreciated.
